Why do dogs sniff it

Dogs often sniff human private areas because:

1. Strong scent glands – The groin has many apocrine sweat glands, which produce strong personal scents. Dogs rely heavily on smell, so it’s very informative to them.

2. Identification – Dogs use scent to learn about a person’s identity, hormones, mood, and health.

3. Habit from dog behavior – Dogs normally greet each other by sniffing the rear/genital area, so they may apply the same instinct to humans.
