Fired on Friday, Rehired the Next Week

On vacation, I unintentionally ended up at the same hotel as my boss. We didn’t interact at all.
When I got back, he fired me—for “not being sociable.” It made no sense, until a coworker hinted that he’d been there with other women and feared I’d expose him.
I didn’t confront him. I just sent his wife the photos I’d seen: him with different women around the hotel. No commentary—just evidence.
A week later, she called to say thank you. She’d confronted him, filed for divorce, uncovered hidden funds, and asked to meet me. Over coffee, she gave me a check worth half a year of my salary and then offered me a job at her consulting firm—not out of revenge, but because she valued my integrity.
I accepted.
On my first day, I walked in and froze—my former boss was there interviewing. He went pale when he saw me. His ex-wife immediately shut him down and had him escorted out.
Then she turned to me and said, “Ready to start your real career?”
I definitely was.
