Meeting My Boyfriend’s Parents Turned Into a Test When They Made Me Pay the Bill

I’m Ella, 29, and I need honest opinions.

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for two years — serious enough to talk about the future. So when I finally met his parents, I was excited.

We sat down at dinner and he looked at me and said, “Hope you brought your wallet.” Not a joke.

Turns out, his family has a “test” — every girlfriend has to pay for the entire table the first time to prove she won’t “use” their son.

I paid for my meal only and left.

Now he says I’m dramatic and failed their expectations.

Is this a relationship red flag, or am I overreacting? 🚩
