My Date Insisted on Paying the Bill – I Wish I Hadn’t Let Him

Mia set me up with Eric, who showed up to our first date with roses, a custom keychain, and perfect manners. He paid for dinner, declaring, “A man pays on the first date,” and I went home impressed.

The next morning, instead of a sweet text, I got an invoice listing “charges” like a hug for the flowers, a coffee date for the keychain, and a guaranteed second date for dinner. At the bottom: “Payment expected in full. No refunds.”

Chris, Mia’s boyfriend, made a hilarious counter-invoice roasting Eric. We sent it back, he blew up, and I blocked him.

Moral: if he insists on paying, make sure it’s not an “investment.” (Yes, I kept the keychain — best souvenir ever.)
