Last weekend, friends and I went out to dinner. While everyone ordered cocktails, steak, and dessert, I kept it simple. When the bill came, I suggested we each pay for what we ordered.
Lisa rolled her eyes. “You’re so cheap. If you can’t afford it, don’t come.”
I stayed quiet and paid the full split.
A week later at her birthday dinner, she ordered everything — then “forgot” her wallet when the bill arrived.
I calmly said, “I’ll pay for myself.”
One by one, everyone did the same.
No drama. Just boundaries.
Now she says I embarrassed her.
Truth is — she did that herself.
