Jameka Mauldin struggled for years as her weight rose to 51 stone, later discovering her severe leg growth was caused by lymphedema and lipedema — chronic medical conditions, not a lack of willpower. After finally receiving a diagnosis in 2019, she began targeted treatment, therapy, and surgeries to manage her condition. Despite infections and time in a care facility, she remained determined to regain her mobility and independence. Today, having lost over 25 stone and returned to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant, she advocates for greater awareness that her condition is medical, not simply about diet and exercise.
