I Went to the Grocery Store at 2 A.M.—I Still Think About What Happened That Night

I ran to the grocery store at 2 a.m. during a restless night. The place was nearly empty—just a cashier and one man who wouldn’t stop staring. Not quick glances. Constant eye contact.
I paid fast and left. Then I heard footsteps.
He followed me into the parking lot, smiling, asking why I was in such a hurry. My keys were clenched, my car felt far away, and my instincts were screaming.
Suddenly, the cashier ran out yelling for him to get away. She’d called the police, seen everything on the security cameras, and recognized him. He’d been targeting women late at night.
He ran. The police said he’d been reported before.
I didn’t sleep that night.
That cashier’s awareness likely saved me.
Women’s safety matters. Trust your instincts. Pay attention. And if something feels off—believe it.
