My SIL and Brother Demanded to Use My Credit Card—When I Said No, They Took It and Got What They Deserved

I never planned on getting a credit card. Growing up with parents arguing over money, I swore I wouldn’t repeat their mistakes. But at 22, living at home while studying, I wanted independence—so I got a student card to build credit.
I barely used it, always paying it off. Then my brother Mark and his wife Kendra found out. Broke and reckless, they pressured me to “lend” it to them. I refused. Soon after, the card went missing—and charges appeared.
I reported it stolen. When police caught them trying to use it again, they called me to confirm. I told the truth: I never gave permission. Mark and Kendra faced fraud charges, and my mom—who had defended them—came home quietly.
No apologies ever came, but they never asked for my card again.
