I spent weeks creating my dream flower garden, only to watch my neighbor’s dog repeatedly dig through the flowerbeds and destroy my hard work. When I asked my neighbor to keep the dog away, she simply shrugged and said, “Dogs will be dogs.”
I tried marigolds, coffee grounds, lavender, and other natural deterrents, but nothing worked for long. Frustrated, I began researching gardening solutions and documenting what helped.
Eventually, I found the answer: a small decorative wooden fence around the flowerbeds. It protected my roses, lilies, and tulips without ruining the beauty of the garden.
What started as a frustrating battle with a neighbor’s dog became a lesson in patience, creativity, and perseverance. Even better, my neighbor eventually changed her attitude, started gardening herself, and we ended up bringing our community together through a local gardening event.
Sometimes, protecting what you love takes more than anger—it takes patience and determination.
