Michael Clarke Duncan was a beloved actor best known for his Oscar-nominated performance as John Coffey in The Green Mile (1999). Born in Chicago in 1957, he worked as a bodyguard before finding success in Hollywood with films like Armageddon, The Whole Nine Yards, Planet of the Apes, and Sin City. Admired for his generosity and gentle nature, Duncan died in 2012 after complications from a heart attack. His friend Bruce Willis remembered him as a talented actor, compassionate person, and true “gentle giant.”
