He Made His Wife Pay for His Friends — I Made Him Regret It

I’ve been a waitress at an upscale downtown restaurant for ten years, but nothing shocked me like the night Jack arrived with eight friends and expected his wife, Lora, to pay their $800+ bill.

They used to be a happy couple, but Jack had grown used to ordering expensive meals while Lora paid. That night, Lora arrived exhausted and finally refused to cover the check. Jack laughed and pushed it toward her anyway.

She ran to the restroom in tears, and I overheard her admitting she was tired of funding his lifestyle. I decided to help her with a plan.

I told Jack there had been a booking mistake and he’d have to leave or take the food to go. Lora suddenly “remembered” a meeting and walked out.

Then Jack’s friends began making excuses and leaving too. Soon, he was alone with the entire $800+ bill.

The next day, Lora returned, thanked me, and handed me $100. She said, “You didn’t just save me money—you gave me the courage to walk away.”
