After their golden retriever Barnaby died, 8-year-old Maya finally found a reason to smile when her dad bought her a Halloween costume that looked just like him. But her stepmother Vanessa hated it because it ruined her carefully planned family aesthetic.
When Vanessa told Maya to take it off, her father finally stood up for his daughter. He realized his wife had become so focused on appearances and social media that she was erasing Maya’s memories of her late mother, Laura, and even using the family’s grief as online content.
