My Son-in-Law Wanted Me to Be His Personal Chef on Holiday—Instead, He Got a Wake-Up Call

My Family Vacation Turned Into Free Labor

I care for my grandchildren every day, so I was excited when my son and daughter-in-law invited me on vacation.

But after we arrived, my daughter-in-law asked, “What’s for dinner? You weren’t expecting a free vacation, were you?”

Instead of arguing, I posted a meal plan and chore schedule—with everyone’s name on it, including mine.

Now things are awkward, but I’m tired of being treated like the family’s unpaid babysitter, cook, and cleaner. Maybe it’s time to remind them I’m family, not free labor.
