Mara judged Lila’s boyfriend by his tattoos, rough clothes, and hardworking appearance. Hurt by her mother’s words, Lila left and didn’t return for six months.
Then, at 3 a.m., her boyfriend called.
“She misses you,” he said. “She just doesn’t know how to come back.”
Mara realized she had judged him without knowing his story. With tears in her eyes, she apologized and promised to listen.
The next morning, she set the table for three—hoping her daughter would finally come home.
